steven alan fall 2011

Because it's still cold out, and because I love him. The whole presentation has just gone up at Style.com but I love these shots SA posted on his Facebook from this morning's presentation. I really think at this point I'm perfectly satisfied with viewing NYFW selectively via the internet.

Velvet floor length polka dots! Desperately wish to pull something like this off.

The ladylike gloves and little handbag paired with a shift gives me butterflies.

I see you in my future, in my dreams, and will see you two sample sales from now, dots.

Gahhhd look at that red. You know you love.

Into the floral pants. Really into them.

Next fall's coat perhaps?

suno x loeffler randall

Everyone's going crazy over these shoes and rightly so. For Suno's S/S 11 collection, they paired with Loeffler Randall to make some serious printed platforms and flats. These babies are going to sell out fassssst. The entire collection did not disappoint and my love only continues to grow for this label. Going to need to change the fact that I don't own a single piece soon enough. (photos via Refinery29, Fashionista, & Loeffler Randall)

rachel comey s/s 11

...And a softer side of Rachel Comey. The hanger appeal of this collection is there from start to finish. (Wave hello to next summer's sandals.) Just as with Vena Cava, I'll happily trade the bold prints for a home for my hips.

(Phoebe Philo and the Mad Men costume designers have really created a lovely, fresh-smelling world for us to dwell in haven't they? May it never end!)

vena cava s/s 11

Some choice looks from Vena Cava S/S 11. These girls truly never disappoint. Though I've come to know and love them through the prints they create, the focus this time around seems to be on movement. Everything is just begging to be worn. And they're making shoes now! It just keeps getting better.

til next time

A rather fun and delightful end to my NYFW...Jeremy Scott FW 10. Makes me kind of wish I were a pop star or perhaps a lady of the night.

fall ten

Been covering NYFW this season mainly from my desk chair. This is usually the case, but I have tried to make it to a few shows & presentations I was excited for. No breaking my back snapping photos and running around crazed this time, just a bit of oohing and ahhing in excitement for what my wardrobe will look like in the fall. Above; Karen Walker, Rebecca Minkoff, and Boy by Band of Outsiders.

Just a few more...

I have so many photos it's hard to resist posting them. But now I promise, I'm done with NYFW until February. Now we've moved on to London, which always leaves me more confused than anything.

Lovely Lewis

I was so excited when Alison Lewis asked me to come and take some photos at her SS10 presentation of her eponymous line, Lewis. Can that green one-shoulder dress be any more perfect? And the peach floral print--she designed it herself! Just as I was beginning to embrace my Fall sweaters and tights, each and every one of these pieces have got me longing for Spring.

Quiet chaos

More of my backstage shots from the shows. These girls fascinate me. Running from one show to the next, being manhandled, photographed, filmed, and interviewed, and still maintaining an element of grace.

Sweet Vlada

Among the truly breathtaking models I've had the pleasure of shooting this Fashion Week, Vlada Roslyakova, backstage and on the runway at VPL. Her eyes are otherworldly and send a bit of a chill down my spine.

See more photos I took at the show over on Dossier.

Pretty faces of NYFW

The gorgeous Irina Lazareanu and Daul Kim with their new short 'do's backstage at the Erin Wasson x RVCA show. Being able to photograph them was surreal. NYFW in general has been surreal in general, thus far.

Also, check out more of my photos of the Erin Wasson x RVCA show over on Dossier Journal. Deanne of Dream Sequins also wrote the review and has many more, some of which I'm contributing to, so definitely add Dossier's style blog to your blogroll.

More to come!

Vena Cava! NYFW! It's all happening! Ahh!

Just a quick one before I sleep. Vena Cava's collection surprised me and subsequently stole my heart with these three dresses.

Swoon! I also picked up one of their limited-edition-from-one-of-ten-archival-prints dresses at their Fashion's Night Out event tonight. It properly satiated my appetite for the designers I simply adore. Went to a couple other events for FNO, got tipsy on wine, and now, well, it's time to sleep as the alarm goes off at 7:30am and NYFW continues.

Julian Louie Fall 2009

photos via style.com

I was going to do a comprehensive "this-is-what-really-tripped-my-trigger-at-NYFW" post but I think I'll skip it. It's so easy to get overly excited about the big name designers during Fashion Week, but it's the new guys who often prove most interesting. I had never heard of Julian Louie before this week, but he's definitely a designer I plan to start following. His second collection has a futuristic vibe with a little 40's and 50's feminine flair mixed in. There's so much to love here.

The infamous Rodarte A/W 09 boots

No doubt, I would lie, cheat, steal, and kill if it meant being able to own these. Has a more devastatingly awesome form of footwear or legwear ever been created? No, no, these babies are it. These are your ticket to heaven.

Cynthia Steffe Fall 2009

So I've been going to a mish mash of stuff throughout Fashion Week. I've about run out of steam! The Cynthia Steffe show was early enough this morning that I could attend and make it to the office in time, so hey, why not? I took some photos too as I was lucky enough to sit in the front row. There was this whole rocker chic meets soft and sweet vibe designer Shaun Kearney was going for, which was executed better in some looks than others. Below are a few of the looks I thought worked fairly well.

These Fall shows just might be helping to distract me from the Spring fever.

Vena Cava A/W 09: Crystalarium

This was and will remain, without a doubt, the highlight of NYFW for me. As far as young designers go, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai are my favorites. It's impossible not to fall in love with every collection they put out. The presentation of their A/W 09 collection proved to be the best yet. Fangirl that I am, I obsessively photographed every look. I CANNOT WAIT TO OWN ANY OF THESE PIECES. Nearly brings me to tears it's all so damn gorgeous.

*weeps*

The drinks at the presentation were made with absinthe. One cocktail on an empty stomach in a room full of this glory made me feel like I was in an alternate universe. One which I wouldn't mind permanently residing in.
