NYC Topshop, finally

Oh sweet, we finally have our very own Topshop across the pond. After months of delays it's finally opening this Thursday. Another outlet to satisfy my cravings for cheap crap, woo! I had to go down to the store to see the mens' stuff for work and ended up taking some photos of shiny things for ladies, which are getting posted here because the card I shot my outfit photos on this morning is not working. The store is bananas...huge, full of neon, sequins, and more sequins. Everyone in New York is about to get a little shinier. Try not to go cross-eyed when you visit the store.

Welcome to the circus!

These will be sold out before I get a chance to buy one. Perfect for tarting things up in the summatime.

Hmmm...not sure. Need a second opinion.

Your boyfriend will dump you for the girl wearing these at the bar. Better grab a pair.

Oooh!

Pretty!

Getting this one for sure. It's perfect.

Summer dresses out the wazoo.

Things start looking questionable again upstairs. 80's town.

Oh hi & bye. Here's my makeshift outfit post. Not really.

I want to hate you.

We all cringe a little upon hearing the words "American Apparel" ...no? So easy to hate on, especially when you live in Williamsburg where everyone needs to take a shower and get a job. But, um, their coming soon section is full of drool worthy goods. Check it out...

Hottness. That bodysuit probably wouldn't get past my bedroom door without some sort of alarm going off, but damn. Want stuff!

And yessss I promise promise promise there will be an outfit post of substance soon. I've had a weekend full of craziness leaving me mentally and physically exhausted. But omg my new room is too damn good.

Enough Light

This week feels manic with things and people flying in and out of the apartment. Space is constricted and there isn't much time for pictures. So I have obsessively scanned this editorial from the May 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon, shot by Tom Munro, for your viewing pleasure.

There's a Rapunzel kind of thing going on here. Claustrophobic, compliant. Fucking beautiful.

Turbo Sunday

I got a ridiculous amount of stuff done today. It feels good. Lots of little things that really needed to get done got done. My apartment is in a transitional period right now so there has been a lot going on. With all of these laborious tasks today involving muscles and screwdrivers, I needed a comfy, basic outfit. Lovvvvvin' my new jeans.

Oh! First photos with the new cam. Love it. Still want a new lens.

I'll venture outside of my little hoodrat block one of these days. I kid, it's not bad at all. People just like to write their names on things. Anyway, I hope everyone had a nice weekend full of indulgence, whatever your pleasure may be.

Summatime

I love this little A.P.C. Madras suit that was shot in an editorial in the latest issue of Lula. I have the same suit from last year in a different fabric and can't wait until this version comes out so I can snatch it up too. And the hat! Must have it all. I've been dreaming of the beach a lot lately. Brighton Beach in all of its city griminess still has my heart. Laying in the sand for hours. Drinking some rum concoction while catching up on reading. Buying mango on a stick. Floating out a little too far in the water before the lifeguard blows his whistle. Thinking you put on enough sunscreen but of course your pale ass burns anyway. Ah, I miss summer.

Ladies at Brighton Beach back in the day. I want to dance in the sand too.

I'll get an outfit post up tomorrow, promise. I've been shopping shopping shopping and my new camera arrived (!) but I'm pretty beat today and am due for a nap. Fading as I type this...

Oh Bondage!

Just a quicky post to test drive my McQ for Target harness dress. I don't know if you've all noticed but at the moment my room sucks for shooting photos and so does my camera. Well that will all change soon and I'm excited. Sometimes I wish I lived in a big old house with tons of space. It's sort of pitiful that I have a BFA in photography and snap myself in a corner with this point & shoot. My self portraiture used to be much more elaborate. Mayyyybe I'll post some one of these days.

Well anyway, here's the damn dress. I like it. I feel tarty wearing it. The McQ for Target collection is crap for the most part but this dress is a keeper.

Psstttsssaturday

I guess wearing disco pants + heels is just asking for honks and kissy noises in this neighborhood. Yes dudes, I've dressed this way for you. I'm gonna run and jump right into your Escalade so we can cruise through the hood while you make those sweet noises at me some more. Mmm. I love how my face looks pissed in these pictures. ANYWAY...

Need more jewelry that doubles as weaponry.

Gonna getcha.

Dueling Personalities

Paris has done a thorough job reminding me that there are infinite ways you can look like a total badass when dressed in black. I was thinking I was over it but clearly it's impossible to truly tire of. Color? Psht. Black is the cooooolest.

F/W 09 collections clockwise from top left: Givenchy, Yohji Yamamoto, Gareth Pugh, Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Nina Ricci, Lanvin, Ann Demeulemeester, Yves Saint Laurent, Junya Wantanabe

But then...oh DAMN. What Dries Van Noten did with color was absolutely genius. Pop pop pop with some neutrals thrown in. Perfect. Achieving this sort of comfort level with brights and pastels has now moved up to position number one on my to-do list.

Fancy T

The T by Alexander Wang goods arrived in the mail. I have to say that though I still feel a bit guilty caving and buying designer t-shirts, they do beat out a 3-pack of Hanes hands down. Soft, slinky, light basics. This t-shirt dress is preeeetty see-through on it's own, so I'm considering getting the black tank dress from the collection to layer under it. For now, it's still cold out and tights will have to do.

(You'll have to excuse my dear-god-it's-finally-Friday face.)

I realized yesterday that these Asos boots I got back in January remind me quite a bit of the boots seen in yesterday's largely underwhelming Balmain collection. This just proves that everything in that show has been seen before, bleh. Still love my boots though.

Cult Club!

Look what arrived from Japan today!

What a perfect little package to come home to after a slow, long day at work. These earrings are adorable. As seen on Gnarlitude and Cheapstake Chic, Itsumi makes ridiculously cool CC creations that deservedly sell out almost as soon as they go up on Etsy. I'm hoping she restocks her store soon, I'm jonesing for the knitted bag and jumbo CC necklace.

Mmmm PVC

Dear Forever 21,

Please stop luring me in with your cheap crap.

Because I want it. And this confuses me.
