Sad Story

Let me tell you a sad story. I indulged and bought these insane sandals awhile back, admired them, fondled them, put them on my shoe rack, waited for warm months to come, and forgot about them. When I picked them up today they were covered in dust. I immediately dusted them off and strapped them to my feet. I still love you, crazy ass shoes.

Ripped jeans, I also love you. You make me feel like a Swede but I know my mother would disapprove of you.

Bumming Around

I've had fun these past couple of days having nothing but free time. It's hard to find time when working full time to do little things like thrifting, planting flowers, and going for walks in the sun. So I will enjoy this free time while it lasts. The 90+ degree weather these last few days has made it feel like a dreamland.

Inferno

Vogue Paris June/July 1976, scanned by iluvjeisa on tFS

Today was straight up summer. If my weather widget told me the truth, it reached 93 degrees here in New York. A parade of short-shorts and sun dresses flooded the streets. I bought a fan and some beer. We went to the little grassy park on the East River to lay out and catch some breeze. But ummm? I would still like a little Spring weather please.

I've got a feeling this summer is going to be hot as hell if we're already feeling like this in April. And seeing all of the little summer outfits today got me excited for beachy days and a bit of color on my pale self. I think I want to live in chunky 70's sandals and vintage cotton dresses all summer.

I'm pretty sure Etsy is the best place to ponder this, and I've been on quite a roll finding adorable things. I've reached my spending limit, no more no more, but there are just so many adorable warm weather pieces flooding the site right now.

Someone snatch this stuff up and take cute pictures of yourself and post it so I can live vicariously through you. Most of it is super reasonably priced too (15 for the sandals?!). Damn my poor self/too big feet.

Feelin' Blue

...actually I'm not. I'm thrilled. (And I don't smile for photos.) It's my last day of work (freedom? free time!) and we finally have Spring outside, true Spring with perfect breeze and warm but not too warm sunshine. Tomorrow it will turn hot as hell, 88 degrees this weekend, wtf? Time to buy a new fan. Maybe I'll crawl up on my roof and lay in the sun.

Twinkle Twinkle

I just love this sequin necklace from the A.P.C. Madras collection. It's one of three things that arrived in my package yesterday. No doubt I will be wearing it all summer long. This morning I woke up to another rainy April day, put on my jeans again (just can't wear tights anymore, ugh) and realized a pop of color would be quite nice.

Summer, is that you?

jacket - H&M, dress - Fighting Eel, boots - Zara, necklace - Maude Loves Harold Vintage on Etsy, sunglasses - Ray-Ban

I've said before how anti-liberty print I was feeling, but I guess it only pertained to the A.P.C. stuff because this little liberty print bomber from H&M called me towards it in the store. It was the only one left so of course I snatched it up. I like the idea of layering liberty print with stripes. It's subtle here, mixed with this old summer dress I've be wearing forever...currently a bit wrinkled as it was shoved in the back of the closet all winter. And I've been wearing this little trumpet necklace nonstop that I got from Siri who has a shop called Maude Loves Harold Vintage on Etsy.

It's currently 77 degrees outside. Seriously? I was actually a bit hot in my light jacket, but I am not ready to show much pasty white flesh yet. The bare legs were tough enough. Next step: paint toenails, prepare for sandals.

While basking in the sunshine, I went to the city and fondled beautiful 30's and 40's dresses at the Flea Market. The quality of vintage the vendors carry never ceases to amaze me. I spotted the most beautiful and delicate little cotton tea dress and teared up a bit when I saw it was being sold for $130. Maybe it will be there next time and I can bargain for it. I'm at least going to bring my camera along on the next trip, keeping photos of the items is the next best thing to buying them. Riiiiiight? Torture.

Time for an afternoon nap (catching up on a week's worth of sleep deprivation is always fun) and some cold beer in this warm breeze.

A.P.C. Madras S/S 09!!!!!

Ahhhhhhh A.P.C. Madras S/S 09 is hereeee!!! I don't know exactly what it is about this line but I lose all self control and logic flies out the window. I got the postcard in the mail earlier this week telling me the goods would be available for purchase today and I knew there was going to be trouble. The colors! The flouncy fabrics! The simplicity and tailoring at a more reasonable price point! I just ordered a necklace, bathing suit, and the skirt above despite the fact that I am about to be unemployed. Do you know what people who get laid off in warm weather seasons do? They hang out at the beach. With a pitcher of margaritas. Hell. yes.

70's Summer

I've been hunting for the perfect little pair of 70's wedge sandals for some time now. Of course I've had no success, as I tend to be rather unlucky when it comes to finding things right when I want them. Etsy is somewhat of a goldmine for decently priced vintage shoes, so why are none in my size?! Some one should buy the following pairs and look cute as hell this summer.

Unusual perfection, from Allen Company, Inc., size 7.5

Pretty Italian babies, from Haute Country Vintage, size 7

Exactly what I'm looking for, from myartsdesire, size 7-7.5

Vintage Fendi! from Shotgun Vintage, size 6

Sighhhhh, from cookiesandcreme, size 7.5-8

If you'll excuse me, I need to commence binding my feet. Being a size 9 is clearly getting me nowhere in life.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!

Just because I'm no longer a child doesn't mean I can't over-indulge on candy and color Easter eggs, does it? I find it amusing the eggs look, err, Balmain-ish. Hah!

I had planned to start up my Etsy vintage store today but I'm going to hold off on it for a couple more weeks, when I have more time to devote to it. Expect some awesome vintage pieces for cheap very soon.

And aren't my neon Ray-Bans sweet? I love ridiculous shades.

Playing Favorites

top - Vena Cava, jeans - Cheap Monday, shoes - vintage YSL

I wore all of my favorite things today. The Vena Cava top I'll never grow tired of, black jeans that are the perfect length, my little vintage YSL oh-so French shoes. It's Friday, I'm very tired, and dressing needed to be easy. Of course this plan has gone out the window now since I just agreed to a date and have no clue what to wear...currently sitting in my PJs. Damn.

Softer

I've been feeling scattered and less than inspired lately and taken to combing through tFS archives of 90's editorials. There's plenty of Christy Turlington and Kate Moss looking fresh as ever, but I was ultimately pulled in by the eerie, quiet editorials in which the models look 10,000 miles away. Paolo Roversi is a photographer who pulls this off consistantly in his work, but the 90's in general seemed rife with it.

Who needs lavish sets when you have a cold piercing gaze.

Also, not sure how many of you use Tumblr but I like it for mood specific image dumps like these, and post over here as well.

All I need is the air that I breathe

Ah Sundays. I love you even more than Saturdays.

I indulge...

I listen to sweet 70's love songs...

I dance around my room, not bothering to fully dress...

And now, time for a nap.

R and R

Not much to talk about today, just some photos. Enjoying a quiet day inside listening to records. I really wish I had more time to do outfit posts, it's nice when I get the chance to do them without any haste. Oh...what color should I paint my bedroom walls? Their current state makes for nice little melancholy photos but I'm not down with actually living like this for much longer.
