I spied a few A.P.C. Madras pieces over on Creatures of Comfort while browsing tonight. These are the three I plan on wearing all summer long. I think I could probably wear nothing but A.P.C. year-round and I'd be perfectly content.

burrr
I need a coat like yesterday. Seriously. I've been thrust into this lovely brisk fall bare-armed and perplexed as to how I don't have a single practical garmet in my closet that will do the job of keeping me warm but not too warm. I can't seem to find anything I like except this Steven Alan coat. So I will need to make it mine, one way or another. I'm a firm believer in splurging on the things you wear every day, though. Coats, a good pair of boots, a solid bag. You can't really get around without them.

as if
I absolutely have no business spending a dime at the moment but if someone gave me a bunch of dimes and told me that I had to spend them on something utterly fabulous, I would go to Opening Ceremony & swathe myself in all. of. this.

NYFW always leaves me feeling a little hungry for stuff.
Above: Vena Cava safety pin top, Alexander Wang for Linda Farrow sunglasses, PS-1 in aqua, Opening Ceremony fishtail dress, Suno cropped motor jacket.

obsessed
A comprehensive post chronicling my F/W 09 Chloé bootie obession...

Rachel Bilson in the Catlyn short boots
Blake Lively in the Catlyn ankle boots
Alix in the Ashton low boots
Obsessed.
This girl on StyleLikeU said she ate Cup 'O Noodles for a couple of weeks after buying a pair of Chloé shoes...
....I'm considering this. Priorities!
Which is your favorite? Would you make cuts in your food/living budget to afford something you can't afford, but love so much you could cry?

Lyell for Fall
After spotting some of the Lyell Fall 09 shots over on Rhiannon's blog, I had to take a closer look. How does every little piece manage to be so perfect? Delicate silk dresses, high-waisted shorts with tights, artfully tailored wool coats...

I've been tempted by vintage silver shoes in the past and now they are definitely back at the top of my shoe wishlist. And even though most of the above lies out of my price range, I still plan on acquiring a few things from the Urban Outfitters collab, which actually looks gorgeous in person. It even appears that a couple new pieces have been added, and the price reduced on some others. Oooh la la.

Want/Need/Want/Need
The Wren Spring 2010 lookbook is filled with way too many cute and covetable pieces for me to handle. My Spring wishlist should not be as long as it already is. Fall just started. I'm going to lose it. Wannnnnt pretty things nowwwwwww. On the plus side, my hair will have inched closer to Ingrid Sophie Schram's length by Springtime. At least growing your hair doesn't cost a thing.

Hardcore cravings
I spent a good part of the weekend wandering into shops, fondling clothes, and leaving rather sad. All I want is new things for Fall. I know I insisted that I would streamline my wardrobe and focus on a few basic pieces, but it is so hard not to get overwhelmed by all of the lovely things for the change of season.

Furthermore, I have nothing to wear for NYFW. The summer clothes seem inappropriate now, while it's still too warm for the cold weather things. Money! Why must you elude me?!

Plan of action
Since funds for clothing are limited for the upcoming season, I've decided I will adopt one or two go-to looks, and perfect them. I've been concocting the first look in my head for some time and am really enjoying the idea of focusing on a specific style, stripping things down. If I know exactly what I want, there's no need to waste money on things that will inevitably end up being sold to Beacon's Closet once I realize they were a big mistake. This is what I've come up with so far:
-High-waisted American Apparel pants in several colors. I already own them in navy and am completely in love with the fit. The waist hits way up there without making your bootie look like it got smacked with a door.
-Pretty little vintage blouses like this lovely one from Etsy. Feminine without being too over the top. Just easy.
-Skinny leather belts, especially this neon pink one from J.Crew.
-Vintage ankle boots. Ideally I will find a couple pairs, as I am incredibly rough on my soles in the colder seasons.

I <3 With Hearts in My Eyes
Much thanks to Jen of Gnarlitude for featuring the gorgeous line of made-to-order clothing, With Hearts in My Eyes, now available at Bonadrag. I am in lovvveeee.
The pieces remind me of one of my favorite movies ever, the hilarious I Love You, Alice B. Toklas. Leigh Taylor-Young's costumes in the film embody every sort of hippie dippy fantasy you've ever had. It's definitely one of my top 5 favorite films, I think I've seen it 30 times in the last 7 or 8 years. Rent it on a lonely Friday night, you won't be disappointed.
Now I must go dream up ways to make moolah so I can afford those lace pants.

Vena Cava Resort 2010
photos via style.com
So I'm aware that the only things I ever post about on this blog are Vena Cava and Lara Stone. But in my eyes, neither can do any wrong. So if you're not a fan of either, too bad. Every Vena Cava collection seems to be made for the girl who enjoys femininity but refuses to dress up like a small child. There are never any Cindy Brady-like smock dresses or giant bows (I love you A.P.C. but sometimes it's a bit much!). Vena Cava rocks the simple cuts, bold patterns, and just enough sexiness to make you feel like a badass. The 2010 Resort collection embraces a tiny waist and dirty old sneakers. Seriously, how hot is that? I can smell the plastic that is my Barney's credit card burning up already.

I want to hate you.
We all cringe a little upon hearing the words "American Apparel" ...no? So easy to hate on, especially when you live in Williamsburg where everyone needs to take a shower and get a job. But, um, their coming soon section is full of drool worthy goods. Check it out...
Hottness. That bodysuit probably wouldn't get past my bedroom door without some sort of alarm going off, but damn. Want stuff!

Kickin' it
Oh hi! Here I am again. I finally ordered the Guess Maeve boots after they were marked way down. They make me feel like some kind of combat stripper video game character. Kind of perfect. I'm excited to wear them them with something short and black but I thought their first trip around the block needed to be paired with a little sweetness.
top - H&M, skirt - American Apparel, boots - Guess
I put together this little spring wishlist today. I've already thought of more things to add, but these all seem like must-haves. I think I'll probably be lazy in the warmer months and be all about the basics.
From left to right: Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans in Loved Destroyed, T by Alexander Wang classic tee in black, T by Alexander Wang classic short-sleeved dress in gray, classic Ray-ban wayfarers, Canon Xsi digital camera, Zara black suede sandals, and various YSL makeup. Hop to it, IRS. Make me a happy girl.

Sniffle
My cold has kept me from accomplishing anything for days. I've not wanted to get dressed let alone get in front of a camera. It seems that everyone is a bit sick at the moment. Whiskey and soup have been keeping me company. Sorry I couldn't get my face completely turned around (a la Chucky) for this shot.
...
I'm actually a bit ashamed to admit I'm falling for the tie-dye trend, specifically with denim. I'm having a hard time imagining myself rocking it, but I know it's only a matter of time before I'm out shopping and wind up buying some crazy tie-dyed piece, much to the chagrin of my friends.

Blue Monday
cardigan - vintage, top - J.Crew, skirt - American Apparel, bag - Mayle, boots - vintage, necklace - Etsy
...
And I'm trying not to shop for a little while (ssshhh) but I can't stop thinking about this perfect, simple American Apparel dress and how well it would suit me. I have been making an effort to inject more color into my wardrobe, partly to lighten up the inevitable gloom experienced in January. However, I naturally gravitate to black and gray. WANT.

Commence the daydreaming.
I've been doing a bit too much shopping lately and my bank account has suffered. But who can blame me? After all of the holidays are over, winter becomes so dull and gray. Everything seems to stop dead in its tracks and some days you just need a lovely new dress to make your blood start circulating again. These dresses by Hurwundeki over on Asos are perfect. Another sale please Asos? To grant me my wishes, hopes, and dreams?
