wanting

My wishlists are overflowing. I know, they say to "shop your closet" but I've sold mine to Beacon's. Only a few favorites remain. This Built by Wendy dress has been a staple for the last two years. The necklace is a newer addition though. I had it custom made on Etsy, using a bullet casing from the gun salute at my grandpa's funeral. I'd been meaning to do something with it for so long and am glad it turned out the way it did.

But yes, I'm plotting my winter wardrobe purchases. Simple silk dresses, cardigans that don't make me look like a school marm, infinite legwear, one of the vintage leopard coats on my long eBay watch list, Chloé bootiessss...gonna get in trouble when that paycheck finally arrives.

Built By Wendy SS10

I need some pretty little clothes to cheer me up today. The Built By Wendy SS10 lookbook images are doing the trick. Wendy Mullen really seems to be progressing nicely when it comes to prints and patterns. I'm excited to see these pieces in person, and they seem like quite a difference from past collections. She has a tendency to use the same shapes over & over so it's refreshing to see a bit of a departure from what's we've seen from her prior to this.

Craving a change

dress - A.P.C. Madras, bag - Foley + Corinna, shoes - vintage

Inspiration to do these outfit posts is a little lacking lately. I feel like I've worn everything I own nine hundred times. Winter clothes, I'm afraid you may soon be relegated to the back of the closet. I realize when I do this we'll get three feet of snow. That's just how it works.

How do people live in places where there are no seasons? Isn't it completely boring? I always get so excited at the prospect of change. A new haircut, some clothes not yet appropriate for the season...these things shuffle us in a forward direction.

And just to make it clear, I'm not completely uninspired. A peek at Built by Wendy's Spring '09 lookbook woke me right up.

Maybe I should move to a 75-degrees-every-single-day climate. I can't imagine lounging around barefoot ever starts feeling too mundane.

Crazy eye

Oh lawwwwd it is cold out! I look a little possessed in these photos due to the fact that there's a wind chill of seven degrees. Charming, no? Well soon enough my hands went numb and it was time to scurry back inside. Still, all in all, I've had the perfect relaxing Saturday. Sleeping in, a two hour bath, and not much else. I've recently found a place that will deliver sushi and another place that will deliver six packs of beer. I'm probably set for the rest of the winter now. I've got a date tonight, oh jeez, I think I'll wear this but with a much larger coat.

Rain on me.

I went to sleep to the sound of pouring, freezing rain. Upon waking up it was much of the same. Assuming I'll want to crawl directly into bed when I get home from work, I snapped these photos this morning with the tiny bit of dull light coming through my window. I've decided I will save for a new camera, the little one I have is just not cutting it anymore. Oh well, it will have to do for now.

Some rainy day music is in order, don't you think?
