I spied a few A.P.C. Madras pieces over on Creatures of Comfort while browsing tonight. These are the three I plan on wearing all summer long. I think I could probably wear nothing but A.P.C. year-round and I'd be perfectly content.

two things I happen to love
...60's French films in technicolor and Lewis. The Alison Lewis "Deneuve" dress for Target was promptly affixed to my summer wishlist a couple of weeks ago. I think it'd go perfectly with a simple pair of red canvas wedges and the steady humming of a Legrand score.

first day of summer
I'm a week late with these photos, but here is what I acquired at Lena Corwin's studio sale. Bunting made by Caitlin Mociun, a perfect Mociun crop top that dips down in the back, and an Aesa necklace. So many amazing things at that sale, cannot wait for the next one. I feel like everything I bought really goes along with the spirit of summer. Simple, cheerful.

to the market
This weekend turned out to be really lovely. Perfect weather and perfectly relaxed. I headed down to the Brooklyn Flea on Saturday since this was the first weekend of the season it was hosted outside. I'm going to have to return next weekend, it's a bit overwhelming! I'm really happy with what I came home with though.
A great little purse for summer, some vintage framed prints, and truly the best vintage cotton gingham dress I've ever laid eyes on. Perfection!

100th post! And I get over camera shyness.
Well well well. Finally I hit 100 posts! Finally I take some pictures for an actual outfit post which hasn't happened in TWO MONTHS. I blame lack of inspiration and lack of cash. Not having an income though is a piss poor excuse for lacking style, so maybe I'll go ahead and retract that one. Summer is a tricky time for putting together ensembles. Most days I find myself laying around in my underwear or bathing suit, drinking Pinot Grigio and feeling my brain melt as I do not function properly in heat. The beach is the only place to be and you don't really need to be wearing much for that.
I saw the print on this dress and immediately fell in love with it. It's handmade, either from the 60's or 70's, and just needed 8 inches hacked off the hem to make it perfect. I was also happy to find the perfect black leather skinny belt and fake 2.55 bag for el cheapo. The Worishofer sandals were a lucky find at Beacon's Closet a couple weeks back, which were essentially free with trade-in credit.
Two more things...
I've finally set up my Etsy shop and will be adding more vintage clothing to it tonight. Please check it out (and favorite it!).
And the winner of the Mink Pink Giveaway selected with Random.org's random number generator is...#5, Heather! I'll contact you shortly with info, Heather. Congrats!

Flea Market Finds
I found this kind of precious, kind of perfect vintage bra at the Fort Greene Flea Market the other weekend. I fell in love with several vintage items while there, but with $10 in my wallet, my options were limited. I circled the booth where this bra was hanging several times, before haggling the vendor down to $8. I was quite pleased with myself.
So damn cute. It makes me feel like I should be hanging out with these ladies, sipping Mojitos and workin' on my tan.
Oh and...New York? Hi. Yeah. Can you please stop pouring ran so I can live out all of my beachy dreams while I'm still jobless?

Hayden-Harnett IRL Shoot
I had the pleasure of participating in Hayden-Harnett's IRL (in real life) Spring/Summer 09 series. The idea is to show what HH's goods look like when styled and worn by regular, every day, most girls you know type girls. Unfortunately the jumpsuit looked all kinds of wrong on me but I fell in love with the dress I ended up in. And the accessories? Well I was unable to leave the store without getting the pumps and the papaya studded cuff I tried on. Wish I could've taken it all.
(Try not to laugh at my bangs. Haircuts are expensive!)

Oh and, sorry for momentarily disappearing again. Living in NYC requires getting the hell out of it sometimes. We don't have enough grass here. Or stars. And did you know if you don't go on the internet for 5 days, something like 400 blog posts pile up to read? I just finally caught up. Go outside people! Well not today, it's gross and rainy. Hmph.

Just another day closer to Summer
When you don't have a regular schedule that gets you out of bed and in the shower at 7 AM sharp every day, dressing can fall by the wayside until one day you realize you've been wearing the same (albeit adorable) Steven Alan pajama set for 3 days. You changed once or twice to run errands, but the PJs went back on the minute you got home. Ohhhkay, it's time to get dressed. Still not quite hot outside, but inching closer as the end of the month nears, you grab a summer dress out of the closet, pop open a bottle of Honey Moon Summer Ale, and daydream of days to come.
Your white legs remind you that it's been too long, and beach season cannot come soon enough.
dress - Dolce Vita (from Beacon's Closet), shoes - Oh...Deer!, bag - Mayle, necklace - vintage

Inferno
Vogue Paris June/July 1976, scanned by iluvjeisa on tFS
Today was straight up summer. If my weather widget told me the truth, it reached 93 degrees here in New York. A parade of short-shorts and sun dresses flooded the streets. I bought a fan and some beer. We went to the little grassy park on the East River to lay out and catch some breeze. But ummm? I would still like a little Spring weather please.
I've got a feeling this summer is going to be hot as hell if we're already feeling like this in April. And seeing all of the little summer outfits today got me excited for beachy days and a bit of color on my pale self. I think I want to live in chunky 70's sandals and vintage cotton dresses all summer.
I'm pretty sure Etsy is the best place to ponder this, and I've been on quite a roll finding adorable things. I've reached my spending limit, no more no more, but there are just so many adorable warm weather pieces flooding the site right now.
Someone snatch this stuff up and take cute pictures of yourself and post it so I can live vicariously through you. Most of it is super reasonably priced too (15 for the sandals?!). Damn my poor self/too big feet.

A.P.C. Madras S/S 09!!!!!
Ahhhhhhh A.P.C. Madras S/S 09 is hereeee!!! I don't know exactly what it is about this line but I lose all self control and logic flies out the window. I got the postcard in the mail earlier this week telling me the goods would be available for purchase today and I knew there was going to be trouble. The colors! The flouncy fabrics! The simplicity and tailoring at a more reasonable price point! I just ordered a necklace, bathing suit, and the skirt above despite the fact that I am about to be unemployed. Do you know what people who get laid off in warm weather seasons do? They hang out at the beach. With a pitcher of margaritas. Hell. yes.

Summatime
I love this little A.P.C. Madras suit that was shot in an editorial in the latest issue of Lula. I have the same suit from last year in a different fabric and can't wait until this version comes out so I can snatch it up too. And the hat! Must have it all. I've been dreaming of the beach a lot lately. Brighton Beach in all of its city griminess still has my heart. Laying in the sand for hours. Drinking some rum concoction while catching up on reading. Buying mango on a stick. Floating out a little too far in the water before the lifeguard blows his whistle. Thinking you put on enough sunscreen but of course your pale ass burns anyway. Ah, I miss summer.
Ladies at Brighton Beach back in the day. I want to dance in the sand too.
I'll get an outfit post up tomorrow, promise. I've been shopping shopping shopping and my new camera arrived (!) but I'm pretty beat today and am due for a nap. Fading as I type this...
