Lucky for us, the storm seemed to pass by rather quietly in the night. Today was cool and windy and I'm actually starting to realize the things I will miss about summer. Fresh food and flowers, Summer Fridays, gin cocktails... But I am welcoming the cool air and slow change of season.

alexa chung for madewell / fall 2011
Excited all over again. I'm over summer. Crunchy autumn leaves and cool crisp air sound perfect. Also, sorry for staring at you in front of Five Leaves the other day, Alexa.

long overdue
This summer was possibly the first time I've ever taken a vacation that wasn't family holiday/reunion related. We took a little trip up to New Hampshire to get down with some nature. I hiked my first mountain (not without tears), dipped in a lake, experienced some unsuccessful fishing in a canoe, picked lavender, and seldom used my iPhone except for picture taking.
Now I just have to figure out how I can quit my day job and go move to the country to devote waking hours to gardening, scavenging, cooking, and blogging. Ongoing goals... use the blog and start more projects instead of just thinking about them.

plant zoo
It was peak cherry blossom season at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens this past weekend. I spent quite a bit of time under the trees, in la la land. The weather was perfect and I got the year's first little sunburn on my shoulders. After the gardens, we headed into Prospect Park so I could take my shoes off and squish my toes in the grass. I think finally after eight years, city living is getting to me. My little fire escape garden and bodega bouquets will have to suffice for now. And every day is one day closer to the weekend.

Because it's still cold out, and because I love him. The whole presentation has just gone up at Style.com but I love these shots SA posted on his Facebook from this morning's presentation. I really think at this point I'm perfectly satisfied with viewing NYFW selectively via the internet.

Velvet floor length polka dots! Desperately wish to pull something like this off.
The ladylike gloves and little handbag paired with a shift gives me butterflies.

miracle
This is the latest Vanessa Bruno film for her S/S '11 collection. I'd love to compile all of the videos she's released so far and just play them on a loop in my head. I want to live this brand. Totally sold.

at least phil didn't see his shadow
bored housewife
Winter cabin fever through & through. I spend my evenings with free flowing hot toddies, snuggled in the best A.P.C. sweater I've ever owned while ragging my hair because it's too cold to go out and I've already watched everything that's on Netflix. All I can think about is making mac & cheese and also the fear that Spring will never come. It feels so far away.

just a little something
garnet ring // the loved one lingerie // sweets // fieldguided tote // vain & vapid top // romantic bedding
I've never really been one to get into Valentines Day and don't hold any expectations for it, but I wouldn't mind receiving any of these little pretty things as a gift. I may or may not have gone ahead and purchased one for myself. With everything so cold and frozen outside all of the time, flowers and some boozy hot chocolate would make for a perfect V-day too. Just sayin'.
